During a meeting with representatives of the nuclear industry in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about his talks with U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska, APA reports citing Reuters.
He noted that the meeting was substantive and that contacts between the two sides are continuing.
"As for our relations with the United States, they are at their lowest level since World War II. I have said this many times. But with President Trump coming to power, I think there is, at least, a light visible at the end of the tunnel," Putin stressed.
The head of state stated that the Arctic contains large reserves of mineral resources, adding that Russia’s "Novatek" company is already operating in the region, including in Alaska. However, Putin did not disclose further details.
According to him, although there was no clear progress on the issue of Ukraine during the meeting with Trump on August 15, Moscow hopes that economic agreements with Washington will be signed.
