Lavrov says Trump faces undue pressure from NATO and EU over Ukraine conflict
Trump is under undue pressure from NATO and the EU, which want to continue the conflict, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
According to him, Russia wants to understand what is behind Trump’s statements about the 50-day deadline for a settlement in Ukraine.
Lavrov noted that European leaders forbid Kyiv from holding talks with Russia.
He said that the third round of talks with Russia is no longer mentioned by Ukraine and that Kyiv has also changed the composition of its delegation: "If Kyiv considers the Istanbul format exhausted, this proves its indifferent attitude towards the Ukrainians."
Russian FM comments on stalled Ukraine talks and sanctions resilience
Lavrov noted that the draft memoranda of the Russian Federation and Ukraine contradict each other, but there is always an opportunity for negotiations.
The Russian Foreign Minister also spoke about the sanctions threats from the US and the EU. He stressed that Russia is coping with sanctions and will cope with new ones: "The authors of the sanctions wars against Russia will suffer from this. Don't dig a well for someone else!"
Lavrov added that he did not believe that Russia's trading partners would shirk their obligations in the face of Western threats.
