"The Kremlin cannot predict whether the exchange of strikes between Israel and Iran has completely stopped, as it does not have details of the ceasefire talks," said Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.
"As far as we understand, there have been contacts in the Middle East through Qatari mediation, as well as communications between the U.S. president and several of his counterparts. We do not know all the details, so we cannot say anything definitive," the Kremlin spokesperson emphasized.
Peskov recalled that Russia has consistently called for ruling out military means to resolve the issue.
The Kremlin official also said that Russia supports Iran based on its clear stance on the Middle East conflict: “Of course, we intend to further develop our relations with Iran. These discussions have taken place and will continue—it is inevitable.”
Peskov also spoke about the meeting held a day earlier at the Kremlin between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. According to him, the topic of Iran’s reaction to U.S. strikes was not raised during the conversation: “This was not discussed.”
The Kremlin spokesperson noted that prior to the meeting with Araqchi, there had been many statements from Iran, including official ones, declaring that a response to the U.S. was inevitable.
