The Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia has filed a lawsuit against the country’s second president, Robert Kocharyan, and several former high-ranking officials, APA reports, citing Armenian media.
The claim demands that the compensation amounting to 670 million drams allocated to the victims of violence and their families during the March 1 events after the 2008 presidential elections be returned to the state.
On August 11, 2025, the Prosecutor General’s Office appealed to the Anti-Corruption Court with a request to protect state interests. In addition to Kocharyan, the lawsuit names Armen Gevorgyan, who was Secretary of the Security Council at the time; Seyran Ohanyan, Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces; and Yuri Khachaturov, Deputy Minister of Defense.
The prosecutor's office is demanding that the amount be paid equally from each.
The court has not yet accepted the case for proceedings.
