Russia has launched a new RuID application that foreigners can use to apply for entry into the country, the Russian Ministry of Digital Development announced this on its Telegram channel, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.
It was stated that the application can be downloaded from RuStore, Google Play, AppGallery, and the App Store.
It was noted that RuID allows foreign nationals who visit Russia visa-free to check entry restrictions into the Russian Federation and create a digital profile to access government services.
The application is available in English, Armenian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Russian, Tajik, and Uzbek languages.
Starting from June 30, foreign nationals entering Russia visa-free must register in RuID, specify the purpose of their trip and personal information 72 hours before arrival, take a photo, photograph their identity document, and record their voice. After this, a QR code will be sent to the foreign national. The foreigner must present this QR code at the border upon entering Russia.
The information obtained from the application will be checked at the border. After that, a digital profile will be created for the foreign national.
Note that in May of this year, Irina Volk, an official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, stated that foreigners will be required to declare the purpose of their trip to Russia three days prior to entry. According to her, this new measure has been established by a government decree and will primarily apply to those entering Russia visa-free.
