The activity of the Daryal customs checkpoint operating on the Georgian-Russian border has been restored, APA's Tbilisi correspondent reports.

It was reported that based on the recommendation of the National Environmental Agency, the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have lifted the restrictions on vehicle movement in the Devdorak Valley, taking into account the current situation. It was noted that the Daryal border crossing point is currently operating in normal mode.

All employees of Georgia's only functioning land customs checkpoint with Russia have been evacuated, Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) said, APA’s Tbilisi correspondent reports.

It was reported that at 08:36 AM local time, the detector located in Devdoraki sent a warning signal about the rise in the water level in the riverbed. Following, in accordance with the protocol, all patrol policemen, customs officers, border police and employees of the private company at the Daryal customs checkpoint were evacuated to a safe place. Employees of the National Agency for Environmental Protection and geologists departed to the area with a helicopter belonging to the border police. In addition, the highway near Gveleti was closed. It was reported that the movement of vehicles was restricted in both directions.

It was reported that the water level in the Terek River has risen, and the employees of the border crossing point have been evacuated.
