Baku hosts Azerbaijan-Lithuania business forum

According to APA-Economics, Chairman of Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov appreciated the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Lithuania at the business forum which supported by Economic Development Ministry and organized by AzPromo (Azerbaijani Export & Investment Promotion Foundation).

According to him, the trade turnover between two countries is developing: â€œAzerbaijan and Lithuania have great potentials to develop the non-oil sector. I am sure that, these discussions will support the establishment of joint venture between two countries, mutual investment, increase of trade turnover and cooperation in many spheres of economy, in the futureâ€.

Speaking about Azerbaijanâ€™s economic successes Ogtay Asadov stressed that Azerbaijan was in the leader position in the region: â€œState budget has increased by 15 times, currency stocks reached $ 30 bln, during past 10 yearsâ€.

Speaker of Lithuanian Seym Irene Dyagutene noted that this forum would support the development of relations between two countries, extension of Lithuanian business in Azerbaijan: â€œTrade turnover between our countries increased by 30%, during past 2 years, but we have more opportunities to increase this indexâ€.

She also noted that Lithuania had a great experience in environmental protection and food industry and they are ready to share this experience with Azerbaijan: â€œLithuania is represented by companies and agencies engaging in construction, ICT, textile, health, agriculture, energy and education spheres, in the forum. Azerbaijani students educate in 9 high schools of Lithuania and all of them are exempted from tuition feeâ€.

A presentation on business and investment opportunities was held at the end of business forum and Lithuanian Inta and Azerbaijani Kiber Companies have signed a memorandum of agreement. Near 60 Azerbaijani and near 20 Lithuanian companies are taking part at the event.
