Book â€œNakchivan: history and monumentsâ€ presented

The presentation ceremony of the book â€œNakchivan: history and monumentsâ€ was held. Nakchivan Supreme Assembly chairman Vasif Talibov addressed the presentation which was attended by the corresponding member of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), doctor of historical sciences Yagub Mahmudov.
He said the book is of great importance for the study of Nakhchivanâ€™s history and local monuments. He said during the Soviet period, only 20 books were published on Nakchivan but since 1996 more than 300 books on Nakchivan, its history, culture, monuments and natural resources were published. Dr. Yagub Mahmudov highly evaluated the works done for the illuminating Nakchivan history and culture. The first examples of the book were presented to Heydar Aliyev museum.
The book â€œNakchivan: history and monumentsâ€ was published in Azerbaijani and English and intended for the mass readers. The book which is accepted as the encyclopedia about regionâ€™s historical and architectural monuments is in two volumes: the first volume is â€œNakchivan from the early times to autonomy periodâ€ and the second volume is â€œNakchivan Autonomous Republic from 1924 until todayâ€. The work includes about 20 maps and 260 picture and illustrations on Nakchivanâ€™s history. /APA/
