Airbus A320 flying from Paris to Cairo ‘feared to have crashed into the sea’  - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED

Baku – APA. A search and rescue operation is underway in the Mediterranean Sea to find a missing EgyptAir flight, which vanished from radar and is feared to have crashed with 66 people on board, 9news reported. 

 

Flight MS804 was carrying 56 passengers, seven cabin crew, and three security personnel when it vanished from radar while flying from Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport to Cairo this morning.

 

Egypt's Civil Aviation Ministry said a search and rescue operation has been launched to find the missing plane, with assistance from Egyptian Armed Forces and Greek authorities.

Ministry officials say the plane is most likely to have crashed into the sea.

 

EgyptAir says the Airbus A320 was flying at 37,000 feet (11,277m) when it disappeared at 2:45am Cairo time (10:45am AEST), shortly after entering Egyptian airspace.

Baku-APA. An EgyptAir flight heading from Paris to Cairo has disappeared from radar, the airline tweeted, APA reports quoting CNN.

 

The plane was flying at 37,000 feet when it disappeared before entering Egyptian airspace, the airline said.

 

A total of 69 people were on board -- 59 passengers and 10 crew.

 

The airline's media center said it will provide more information as it becomes available.
