5 die in traffic accident in Australia's far north

Baku-APA. A serious traffic accident on Friday has caused deaths of five people on a highway south of Darwin, the capital city of Northern Territory in Australia, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) reported Friday night, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The fatal accident happened near Adelaide River on the Stuart Highway, 100 km south of Darwain on late Friday afternoon.

Five people, all adults, were pronounced dead at the scene after the car they were in collided with another vehicle, the ABC reported.

According to paramedics, a man in the second vehicle suffered minor injuries and was to be taken to hospital.

The highway near Adelaide River was closed after the incident, leading to a long que of vehicles along the highway. The ABC reported that until during the night did the police begin to let through small convoys of vehicles.
