Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and Syria’s Ministry of Interior conducted a joint operation against illegal drug trafficking, TRT Haber reports.
As a result of the joint operation, 236 kilograms of marijuana were seized.
According to the information, MIT received intelligence about a drug-laden vessel departing from Southeast Asia. The ship first headed to Alexandria in Egypt and then to Beirut in Lebanon.
The vessel’s final destination was planned to be the port of Latakia in Syria.
The value of the seized drugs on the black market is estimated at 300 million Turkish liras.
