The son of an Iranian reformist politician has been arrested, APA reports, citing Iranian media.
Former reformist politician Mehdi Karroubi’s son, Hossein Karroubi, has been detained.
He is accused of cooperating with media outlets based abroad that are engaged in activities against Iran’s authorities.
Note that his father, Mehdi Karroubi, is a cleric and also ran as a candidate for Iran’s presidency in the 2000s, claiming that the elections were fraudulent. He was previously placed under house arrest over some of his statements.
Recall that earlier Reform Front and Nation’s Unity Party Chairman Azar Mansouri, former lawmaker Ebrahim Asgharzadeh, former diplomat Mohsen Aminzadeh, and Reform Front spokesperson Javad Emam were arrested by security forces.
