Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani discussed the ceasefire between Tehran and Washington by telephone with his Iranian and UAE counterparts, as well as with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Qatari Foreign Ministry informed, APA reports.
During a conversation with the Pakistani prime minister, the head of the Qatari government expressed gratitude to Islamabad for its mediation efforts, "which contributed to achieving a ceasefire between the US and Iran." He expressed Doha's full support for the Pakistani initiative, calling on all parties to engage in dialogue to achieve a comprehensive peace agreement.
In a conversation with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Qatari Prime Minister strongly condemned the drone attack on the UAE's Barakah Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). As stated in the ministry's statement in the X, the head of government expressed full solidarity with Abu Dhabi and support for all measures taken by the UAE authorities to preserve its sovereignty and the security of its facilities.
Discussing the situation in the Persian Gulf with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani emphasized the unacceptability of using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool of pressure. He noted that freedom of navigation is an "immutable principle, non-negotiable," and that closure of the strait "will only exacerbate the crisis and jeopardize the vital interests of regional countries."
