The radical Palestinian movement Hamas may receive permission from the United States to retain some small arms, at least for a while. APA reports citing The New York Times.
According to their sources, Washington will demand that Hamas surrender all weapons capable of attacking Israel, but may temporarily allow the movement to retain some small arms. A negotiating team, including US Presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner, US President's special envoy Stephen Witkoff, and former UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nikolai Mladenov, will convey this proposal to Hamas in the coming weeks. Its provisions have not been finalized and are subject to change, the newspaper noted.
