Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defense has stated that an investigation is underway regarding the F-16 fighter jet that crashed on February 25, APA’s Türkiye bureau reports.
The Ministry noted that after an unidentified radar trace was detected near the Bulgarian border, two F-16 fighter jets took off simultaneously from the Command in Balıkesir as part of a scramble mission.
Radio communication and radar trace data with one of the fighter jets were lost as of 00:56. It was determined that the pilot activated the ejection system at the last moment to abandon the aircraft.
It was noted that the cause of the incident will be determined following a detailed investigation by the accident investigation team.
