“Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Army, Eyal Zamir, is against the expansion of ground military operations and positions in Gaza,” APA reports, citing Al-Hadath publication.
The article notes that E. Zamir will present a report at today’s Cabinet meeting regarding the financial losses that could result from the continuation of the operation.
Sources within the army also stated that the military confrontation could last for months and that the Israeli side would have to deploy an additional 6 military units to the region to strengthen positions.
Recall that earlier, sources within the Israeli government announced that the military operations would continue:
“The issue has already been resolved. The operation will cover both the Gaza area and the locations where hostages are being held. The Chief of General Staff’s refusal to implement this decision could result in his resignation.”
The author also writes that other sources claim Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not yet made a final decision regarding the continuation of the military operation.
