"We have reached an agreement with the Syrian leadership on the issue of unifying the country under a single government, army and flag," said the leader of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi in an interview with the Al-Hadath TV channel, APA reports.

He also called the country's transitional President Ahmed al-Shaara the legitimate head of state.

Sharing his views on the ceasefire agreement reached on March 10, M. Abdi said that some time is required for the implementation of the document: "Currently, we have appealed to official Damascus to restore the work of state institutions that used to operate in various cities. In turn, they have expressed their readiness to accept our demand for official recognition of the Kurdish language and culture. We simply want our language to have a status equal to the official state language in the regions where Kurds live compactly."

The leader of the SDF assessed the fact that more than 100,000 fighters began serving in the army as a huge process.

Mazloum Abdi also mentioned that Saudi Arabia can play an important role in resolving the current disagreements: "Official Riyadh can only play a role in this process if it acts as a mediator in negotiations with Damascus."
