"Today’s announcement on a strategic dialogue between Israel and Ukraine reopens the consultation mechanism that has been suspended since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022," Ukraine’s Ambassador to Israel Yevgen Korniychuk told The Times of Israel, APA reports.
The focus will be on Iran for the foreseeable future, he says: “We have been shot with the same drones. We have the same enemies.”
The two countries will work to prevent collaboration between common enemies and to advance sanctions against them, says Korniychuk.
The next phase of the dialogue will take place when Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha visits Israel. Sa’ar invited him to do so earlier today.
Israel and Ukraine are also working to restart their economic dialogue, says Korniychuk. Israel has nominated its representative to lead the consultation, while Ukraine has yet to do so.
