Israeli army intensifies strikes against Hezbollah

The Israeli military has stepped up airstrikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon in recent weeks, APA reports, citing The Times of Israel.

According to the report, this armed group, which is backed by Iran, may join Tehran in a new conflict against Israel.

On Friday night, the Israeli Air Force carried out strikes in the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon targeting three command centers belonging to Hezbollah's missile forces. As a result, eight militants, including a high-ranking commander, were killed.

The Israeli military said in a statement that Hezbollah's missile forces had recently been working to increase their ability to launch rockets into Israel.

According to military sources, the aim of the strikes was to weaken the group's missile and projectile capabilities in case it tries to resume military operations.

Sources noted that, amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran and the renewed risk of war in the region, the Israeli military has determined that Hezbollah, especially its rocket and missile forces, are preparing to strike Israel in the event of a US attack on Iran.
