Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei has pardoned more than 2,000 prisoners, APA reports, citing Iranian media.
Khamenei has approved the pardon or commutation of sentences for 2,108 prisoners convicted of various crimes.
Note that the head of Iran’s judiciary, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, in a letter addressed to Khamenei in connection with the month of Sha’ban and the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, requested the pardon or reduction of sentences for the prisoners.
Recall that Iran’s judiciary chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, had announced that individuals detained in connection with the recent protest rallies would not be included in the pardon list.
