We must revive Lake Urmia at all costs, said Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref, APA reports, citing Iranian media.
“Over the past 20 years, we have implemented a unified program to revive Lake Urmia. We have also received assistance from friendly countries in this matter. Despite our efforts, we have not been able to achieve significant progress,” the First Vice President noted.
He added that sand and dust storms caused by the drying of the lake have been harming public health and the environment.
“When evaluating the results of projects carried out over the past 10 years, no noticeable increase in the water level has been recorded,” Aref said.
