Iran is ready for talks, said Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who is on a visit to Istanbul, at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, APA’s Türkiye bureau reports.

According to him, Iran is ready to return to nuclear discussions: “Although past experience has shown that the United States lacks goodwill and honesty in dialogue, Iran is still ready to continue nuclear talks.”

Araghchi reiterated that nuclear weapons have no place in Iran’s military doctrine or security calculations, and that Tehran’s nuclear activities are entirely for peaceful purposes: “We are ready for talks based on an equal footing and mutual respect in order to rebuild trust.”

The Iranian minister added that on the issue of negotiations, the U.S. government has repeatedly approached Tehran through various mediators, and these demands are continuously being renewed: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has no problem with holding talks. Iran intends to negotiate, but negotiations cannot begin with threats. First and foremost, the language of threats must be set aside.”
