Iranian authorities are ready to negotiate with the administration of US President Donald Trump, provided trust is restored between the parties, said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, APA reports citing CNN.
"Meaningful negotiations must be based on trust. Unfortunately, we have lost confidence in the United States as a negotiating partner. We need to overcome this mistrust. Currently, mediators from friendly countries in the region are trying to build that confidence," he said in an interview with CNN . "It's difficult, but they are trying, so I see the possibility of new negotiations if the US negotiating team follows President Trump's words about reaching a fair and equitable deal to ensure the absence of nuclear weapons."
The Iranian Foreign Minister confirmed that Tehran and Washington are currently exchanging messages through intermediaries. "We are working with them [the intermediaries] and exchanging messages," he added.
