Iran has executed a man it accused of spying for Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, APA reports.
“The death sentence of an Israeli spy, who provided Mossad officers with images and information about sensitive areas in the country, was carried out this morning after going through the legal process and being approved by the Supreme Court,” Tasnim reported.
Tasnim said the man was recruited online by Israeli intelligence while in Sweden after he posted his details on a group travel advertising link. A Persian-speaking Mossad officer reportedly made initial contact, the report added.
He was arrested by the IRGC in June in the Iranian city of Savojbolagh, during the 12-day war with Israel.
He was in possession of “sophisticated spy, intelligence, and satellite communications” equipment.
