India is reviewing President Trump’s announcement on Wednesday that he plans to raise tariffs on the country, New Delhi said in a statement, asserting its continued commitment to pursuing a trade deal with the U.S. while protecting national interests, APA reports.
India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued the statement shortly after Trump announced the country would face a tariff rate of 25 percent as well as an undefined “penalty” for its purchases of military equipment and energy from Russia.
