The majority of citizens who voted in the referendum on the new constitution of Kazakhstan supported the adoption of the country's new fundamental law, according to exit polls conducted by three organizations. According to their data, the level of support ranged from 86.7% to 88.6%, APA reports.

Specifically, according to the Institute of Eurasian Integration, 86.7% of voters supported the draft new constitution. The study involved 30,000 people at 200 polling stations. The survey was commissioned by the Khabar news agency ; the margin of error is approximately 1%, either positive or negative.

Another exit poll was conducted by the Socis-A Institute for Comprehensive Social Research, commissioned by Zakon.kz . According to the results, 87.4% of voters supported the draft new constitution. The survey was conducted at 200 polling stations. The poll's margin of error is 1.5%, and the publication did not specify the number of respondents.

The third poll was conducted by the Institute of Public Policy of Amanat, the republic's largest political party, and the results were broadcast on Astana TV . 24,000 people participated in the poll at 200 polling stations. According to the poll, 88.6% of voters supported the new constitution.

 

Most referendum polling stations in Kazakhstan were open from 7:00 AM (5:00 AM Moscow time) to 8:00 PM (6:00 PM Moscow time). Several polling stations opened earlier, at 6:00 AM (4:00 AM Moscow time). The last polling station abroad, according to the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will close in San Francisco, USA, on March 16 at 8:00 AM Astana time (6:00 AM Moscow time). According to the Central Referendum Commission, turnout after the polling stations closed in the country was 73.24%, which is higher than in the previous four electoral campaigns in Kazakhstan – two referendums in 2022 and 2024, as well as the early presidential elections in 2022 and the early parliamentary elections in 2023.

The new constitution provides for a transition to a unicameral parliament, the introduction of the post of vice president, the reform of consultative bodies with the right of legislative initiative, the establishment of the priority of national law over international law, and several other innovations.
