The European Union has added the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to its terrorist list, the Council of the European Union said in a statement, APA reports.
From now on, the IRGC will be included under the EU’s counter-terrorism sanctions regime.
This means the organization’s financial assets in EU member states will be frozen, and entities within those countries will be prohibited from making economic resources available to the IRGC.
On January 29, EU member states recognized the IRGC as a terrorist organization. Today, the EU Council officially included the group on its list of terrorist organizations.
