Egypt's parliament approves major cabinet reshuffle

The Egyptian House of Representatives (parliament) approved President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi's plan for a major government reshuffle. As a result, the Arab Republic will have a new deputy prime minister, APA reports citing Al-Youm as-Sabia portal .

According to the source, Hussein Isa has been appointed the new deputy prime minister, overseeing economic affairs in the government. Former deputy prime ministers Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Kamel al-Wazir are now the minister of health and the minister of transport, respectively. Al-Wazir has also lost his post as minister of industry, and Khaled Hashem Maher will take over.

Furthermore, Egypt's Minister of State for Military Industry was replaced by Salah Suleiman, while the head of the country's State Information Service, Diya Rashwan, was given the portfolio of Minister of Information. The reshuffle also affected the ministries of Justice, Communications and Information Technology, Culture, and Investment. The heads of the Foreign Ministry, the Interior Ministry, and the Ministry of Defense retained their posts.
