The leaders of the Druze community in the city of Sweida, Syria, have established a Supreme Legal Committee composed of judges and lawyers in order to take control of the city's administration, APA reports.
The committee has appointed a temporary executive office and a new leadership for security forces that will oversee administrative, security, and service sectors.
This move comes after recent escalations between the Druze and the Damascus government.
According to the information, the committee will supervise administrative, security, and service sectors in Sweida, fight against corruption, and protect both public and private property.
Initially, a temporary executive body will be established and new leadership will be appointed for the Internal Security Forces.
The Syrian government has not yet made any statement regarding the issue.
