China is not directly involved in the war in Ukraine, said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during his speech at the Munich Security Conference, APA reports.

“China’s position on this issue is clear. This conflict should be resolved through dialogue and consultation. China does not have the final say in resolving this conflict. We only promote peace and negotiations,” the Chinese foreign minister stated.

He added that Europe should also take part in resolving the conflict.

“Europe should not look at the issue from the sidelines. When I was on this platform last year, during negotiations with Russia, Europe remained on the sidelines watching. Since the conflict began here — in Europe — I stated at that time that when the moment comes, Europe has the right to participate in these negotiations. I said that Europe should be at the table, not on the menu. Now we see that Europe has found the courage to engage in dialogue with Russia. This is good, and we support it,” Wang Yi noted.

He reminded that his country is a partner, not a competitor, with Europe.

"Today, the volume of trade between us in one day with Europe is more than the trade we carried out in the following year after we established diplomatic relations. Why should China be presented as a rival of the European Union?" Wang Yi asked rhetorically.
