US-supplied weapons will not help Taiwan achieve independence, Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of China, said during a press conference, APA reports.
According to him, no matter how many weapons Taiwan purchases, it will not change the “inevitable defeat” of pro-independence forces.
The Chinese official emphasized that Beijing firmly opposes military cooperation between Washington and Taipei.
Chen Binhua added that the Taiwanese leadership is making the situation more dangerous by relying on external forces, which could lead to serious consequences for the island’s population.
