Cambodia has called for an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council following airstrikes by Thai forces within its territory, APA reports.
The Cambodian government has strongly condemned the Thai military action, describing it as reckless and aggressive.
The Thai military confirmed early Thursday morning that its army had carried out airstrikes inside Cambodia. According to Cambodian officials, fighter jets were used to drop two bombs. Cambodia has accused Thailand of violating an agreement intended to reduce tensions between the two countries, as reported by Reuters.
The airstrikes occurred after two civilians were killed during clashes between Thai and Cambodian soldiers overnight. Both nations have blamed each other for initiating the exchange of fire.
