Baku-APA. NATO says one US-led soldier has been killed and another injured in separate attacks in Afghanistan as the death toll of foreign forces continues its upward climb, APA reports quoting Press TV.

The US-led military alliance said one of its soldiers was killed in a militant attack in the east of the country.

The soldier’ nationality or the exact location of the attacks have not yet been disclosed; however, US soldiers make up the majority of the foreign troops stationed in the east and south of Afghanistan.

The latest deaths bring the number of US-led foreign soldiers killed in Afghanistan this year to at least 634. The figure is the highest annual toll since the US-led invasion of the country nearly nine years ago.

The military alliance said another soldier was wounded when a NATO convoy was attacked in the capital, making it the first of its kind in three months in Kabul.

Despite the presence of around 150,000 foreign troops and mercenaries, violence and civilian and foreign casualties have reached record high levels in Afghanistan.
