Baku – APA. Saudi Arabian Prince Turki al-Faisal says his country refuses to normalize relations with Israel until it leaves land captured during the 1967 Six-Day War, APA reports quoting “The Voice of America”.
The former Saudi intelligence minister and ambassador to the United States said Saudi Arabia would be accepting “immorality” and undermining international law if it recognized Israel.
Faisal made the comments in a speech at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington Thursday.
The prince said Saudi Arabia will renew its offer to lead an Arab effort to accept Israel diplomatically if Israel is willing to return captured land. The area captured by Israel during the 1967 war includes East Jerusalem, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and the Golan Heights.
Faisal’s speech comes amidst U.S. efforts to establish an Israel-Palestinians peace agreement by the middle of next year. Peace talks are currently stalled by the expiration of an Israeli settlement freeze on land Palestinians want for a future state.
