Turkish FM: Economies of Turkey and Venezuela complete each other
Holding a joint press conference with his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro Moros in Ankara on Thursday, Davutoglu said that although Turkey and Venezuela were located in different geographies, they had many cooperation areas.
Noting that foreign ministries of the two countries would work on mutual training of young diplomats to develop the relations, Davutoglu said that there was a Venezuelan friendship group at Turkish Parliament, and they decided to set up a Turkish friendship group at Venezuelan Parliament too.
Davutoglu said that Moros invited him in Venezuela, adding that he hoped to pay a visit to Venezuela next year.
Davutoglu recalled that Moros and accompanying delegation met with Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz, and the two countries signed a cooperation agreement in energy area.
Venezuela is an energy producer country, and Turkey is an important energy terminal, said Davutoglu adding that the two countries were completing each other in energy area.
We also agreed to develop and boost air and sea transportation between the two countries, said Davutoglu.
Noting that Venezuela was in a central place in Latin America and Caribbeans, Davutoglu said that Moros would extend support to Turkey’s move of opening to Latin America.
Also, Turkey will support Venezuela in its activities in the Middle East, Central Asia and Balkans, noted Davutoglu.
Davutoglu said that the trade between Turkey and Venezuela increased from 120 million USD to 250 million USD in the last 4-5 years, adding that Turkey wanted to further develop the trade.
Davutoglu said that they also discussed presentation of Venezuelan ports to Turkish shipping in a more appropriate condition.
He also said that Moros would do his best regarding the issue of Turkish tanker "Aqua" which had been kept in Venezuela for some time together with its 23 crew members.
