Baku-APA. A group of Iranian students gathered outside the UK Embassy in Tehran Thursday to demand an apology from London for calling for "intelligence-led operations" in Iran, APA reports quoting Xinhua News Agency.

The students condemned efforts by the UK to interfere in Iran’s domestic affairs. British officials must apologize to the Iranian nation, a group of Tehran University students demanded, according to the report.

Reportedly, on Oct. 28, the head of UK’s Secret Intelligence Service, known as the MI6, accused Iran of pursuing a military nuclear program and called for intelligence-led operations inside the country.

"Stopping nuclear proliferation cannot be addressed purely by conventional diplomacy. We need intelligence-led operations to make it more difficult for countries like Iran to develop nuclear weapons," John Sawers was quoted as saying.

The students chanted slogans and called for a serious diplomatic reaction from Tehran, said the report.

"Expel the British ambassador" and "Shut down the British Embassy," chanted the students, according to Press TV.

Earlier in the day, Iran’s Intelligence Ministry said it has arrested four UK-linked terrorists in the western city of Marivan, who carried out five assassinations in the last two years.

Iran’s Intelligence Ministry said the UK was suspected to have carried out secret espionage activities in the country, and funded and supported certain terrorist groups against the Islamic Republic.
