Violence kills 12 people in Iraq

Baku-APA. Violence has killed 12 people across Iraq, including four police and a soldier in the country’s main southern city of Mosul, police said, APA reports quoting presstv.ir website.

A bomb explosion killed four policemen in Mosul on Thursday, leaving two others critically wounded.

At a military base in east of the city two insurgents, under the disguise of military clothes, blew themselves up, killing one soldier and injuring five others on Thursday.

On Wednesday night, in another onslaught at a police checkpoint in western Mosul, gunmen killed three officers.

Police, however, managed to thwart an attempted attack in western Mosul. Police spotted an explosive-laden car in a crowded livestock market on Thursday, shooting the driver dead.

Elsewhere in the eastern province of Diyala, militants abducted and killed two anti-al-Qaeda militiamen early in the morning on Thursday.

In Baghdad, two roadside bombs targeted a police patrol, claiming the lives of two police officers and injuring eight others on Thursday, the interior ministry said.
