Venezuela strongly condemns US President Donald Trump's remarks regarding the closure of airspace over the Bolivarian Republic and calls on the international community to reject this act of aggression, it was stated in a statement by the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, published on the Telegram channel of Foreign Minister Iván Gil Pinto, APA reports.
"The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela strongly condemns the public statement published today on social media by the President of the United States, in which he attempts to extraterritorially apply the illegal jurisdiction of the United States to Venezuela, issue orders and threaten the sovereignty of national airspace, territorial integrity, aviation security and the sovereignty of the Venezuelan state," the Foreign Ministry said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that "such statements constitute a hostile, unilateral action incompatible with the basic principles of international law" and constitute aggression against Venezuela, Latin America, and the Caribbean. "The Bolivarian government warns that Venezuela will not obey orders, threats, or interference from any foreign power," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated. It also noted that the US government's actions unilaterally suspended regular, weekly flights returning migrants from the US to Venezuela.
The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry called on the international community, sovereign governments, the UN, and multilateral organizations to "resolutely reject this immoral act of aggression," which constitutes a threat to the sovereignty and security of Venezuela, the Caribbean, and South America.
