US authorities have imposed restrictions on 29 vessels and several companies that, according to the US authorities, are involved in the transportation and sale of Iranian oil and petroleum products, it was announced in a statement by the US Treasury Department, APA reports.
As specified in the document, the agency is imposing restrictions "on 29 'shadow fleet' vessels and the companies managing them that transported Iranian petroleum products worth hundreds of millions of dollars." These include companies operating or based in Egypt, India, Panama, and the Marshall Islands.
The Treasury Department clarified that the US has already imposed sanctions on more than 180 vessels involved in the transportation of Iranian oil and petroleum products. Inclusion on the sanctions list entails, among other things, a freeze on assets in the US and a ban on American citizens and companies doing business with those listed.
