U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has rejected a leaked intelligence assessment that downplays the impact of America’s strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Hegseth said during a press conference at the Pentagon, APA reports.

He stated that he does not accept the report claiming the U.S. strikes had minimal effect on Iran’s nuclear sites.

“The intelligence report was leaked because some want to portray the strike on Iran as a failure. The media chases scandals, ignores achievements, and targets President Trump,” he noted.

According to him, Iran’s nuclear program has been shattered: “Iran’s nuclear program was shattered, destroyed, obliterated — pick your term.”

The Pentagon chief described the military operation as a “tremendous success” that helped end the 12-day war.

“President Trump oversaw the most complex and classified military operation in history,” Hegseth said.

He emphasized that the operation both paved the way for a ceasefire and served to neutralize Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
