American and Ukrainian delegations have begun a meeting in the United States to discuss ways to resolve the crisis in Ukraine, announced Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), who is leading the Ukrainian delegation, APA reports.
"A meeting between the Ukrainian delegation and the American side has already begun in the United States to discuss steps to achieve a dignified peace," Umerov wrote on his Telegram channel.
He added that he is in constant communication with Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine also stated that he is conducting negotiations based on Zelenskyy's "directives" and "the developments reached in Geneva" on November 23 during the talks between the US and Ukrainian delegations. Umerov added that he will report to Zelenskyy on the results of the talks in the US.
Umerov had previously announced the start of a meeting with the US delegation on his Telegram channel, but then deleted the post without explaining the reason.
"This is not just about peace deals. It's about creating a pathway forward that leaves Ukraine sovereign, independent and prosperous, and so we expect to make even more progress today," Rubio said in Hallandale Beach, Florida, where talks were taking place.
