The administration of US President Donald Trump is ready to provide legally binding security guarantees to Ukraine based on NATO's Article 5, a senior American official told Axios, APA reports.
According to him, the relevant agreement will be put to a vote in the US Congress. It was noted that Washington is trying to offer Kyiv a strong and real security guarantee, not a "blank check."
"We want to provide Ukrainians with a security guarantee that, on the one hand, is not a blank check, but on the other hand, is strong enough. We are ready to send it to Congress and put it to a vote," the American official said.
It is assumed that the negotiation process will consist of three separate agreements: peace, security guarantees and post-war reconstruction agreements.
