The United States has designated Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his government as a foreign terrorist organization, APA reports, citing CNN.
"This will allow for additional sanctions against the regime's assets and logistics. Washington believes that increased pressure will push Maduro to resign and give the United States more leverage in the region," the channel said.
It should be noted that Maduro is associated with the "Sun Cartel", a network of drug dealers within the Venezuelan Armed Forces that is involved in smuggling to the United States and Europe. Earlier, Trump accused Venezuelan officials of drug terrorism, corruption and smuggling.
It should be recalled that relations between the United States and Venezuela are rapidly deteriorating.
