Gunman kills two at Virginia Tech

Baku-APA. A gunman goes on a shooting spree at a university in the eastern US state of Virginia, killing two people, including one police officer, APA reports quoting www.presstv.ir website.

The attacker opened fire during a routine traffic stop on the campus of Virginia Tech on Thursday, the Associated Press reported.

The university said a police officer had pulled over someone, when he came under the attack of the gunman.

The shooter then ran towards a nearby parking lot, where a second person was later found dead. It was not immediately clear if that person was also a victim of shooting by the attacker.

The university is currently under heavy security.

Students and faculty members were told to stay inside university buildings as the police were searching for the suspect.

The incident was the first shooting on the university’s campus since 33 people were killed there in 2007 in the deadliest mass shooting in the modern US history.
