Baku-APA. Six protesters were arrested on Tuesday in a U.S. Senate office building in Washington, according to authorities, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The Capitol Police said the protesters were arrested in Hart Senate Office Building, and were charged with unlawful conduct. Protest organizers said protesters who were arrested include Dennis Trainor, one of the organizers of the "Occupy D.C." movement.

About 75 to 100 protesters marched on Tuesday morning from Freedom Plaza on the Pennsylvania Avenue to the Hart Senate Office Building to "confront Congress about its refusal to represent the people who vote for them and their incompetence in the face of economic crisis and unending war," said organizers.

After arriving at the building, protesters filled the Hart atrium, chanting "How Do You Fix the Deficit? End the Wars, Tax the Rich," and "We Are the 99 percent."

When protesters tried to unfurl a banner in the building, police started making arrests and seized the banner.

Protesters have been occupying Freedom Plaza since last week. Their permit to hold demonstrations on the plaza was renewed for four months on Sunday by the authorities.
