UN approves Vietnam Common Country Program for 2012-2016
According to UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam Eamonn Murphy, this is the first time that UNDP, UNFPA and UNICEF together built a common document for cooperation with Vietnam, which is considered a milestone in the renewal process of the UN in Vietnam.
That is resulted from the role and strong commitment of the Vietnamese government, which would contribute to the success of renewal by the UN in Vietnam on the global and national scale, said Murphy.
CCPD is based on the draft plan about the One UN for the 2012- 2016 period, in areas of priority by the UN agencies in Vietnam and within the context of the Delivering As One (DaO) initiative.
The One UN document meets with Vietnam’s new requirements as a middle-income country. It focuses in three major areas including sustainable growth and insurance for everybody to benefit results of development and accessible to social allowances and essential high-quality services, and enhancement of the state management, said the report.
CCPD emphasized in such issues as high-quality technical support and development of capability at central and local levels; the role of UN in cooperating with partners and expanding relations with partners. It aims to enhance the efficiency and coordination, as well as simplify procedures of the UN in Vietnam.
Built on the tri-party structure including the government, UN country team and donors, CCPD goes in lines with Vietnam’s national programs, especially its socio-economic development plan for 2011-2015, said the report.
