Azerbaijani and Turkish Americans will host a Khojaly memorial week in US

On February 18-26, 2011, for the fourth time, Azerbaijani-American Council, Azerbaijan Society of America and Azerbaijani Student Association at the University of Toronto will be partnering to organize the Khojaly Memorial Week in North America.
Besides that, the Diaspora Organization also will host Khojaly Discussion Panels, in San Francisco, Washington DC, New York as well as Memorial Conference in Toronto, Canada.
“Khojaly, once an Azeri-populated town located in the Mountainous Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, was occupied by Armenian forces on the night of February 25-26, 1992. Its largely Azeri Turkic population was subjected to ethnic cleansing and massacre by the occupying forces, brutally killing 613 civilians, including 106 women and 83 children, according to the Human Rights Watchâ€, says the organizer’s statement..
