The incident happened at Nakivubo Mews near Magoba Aracade, where constructors were demolishing the house for renovation in the busy downtown Kampala, according to Patrick Onyango, Uganda's deputy police spokesperson.
The police and the Uganda Red Cross Society arrived at the scene for rescue operations of people still believed to be trapped under the rubble. Police investigations are under way.
The injured have been rushed to Mulago Hospital, the country's national referral hospital for treatment.
Gen. Kale Kayihura, the inspector general of police who visited the scene, blamed the Kampala Capital City Authority for allowing dilapidated buildings in the city, which puts people's lives at risk.
