Baku-APA. Two people were killed and more than 20 others injured, six of them critically when two trains collided in Eastern Cape Province on Wednesday, authorities said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
The accident happened when a passenger train collided head on with a cargo train between East London and King Williams Town around noon, emergency medical services Dynamic said.
Paramedics are currently on the scene working to free trapped passengers from the carriages.
Authorities did not rule out the possibility that the death toll could rise.
The cause of the accident was still under investigation.
This was the second train collision in less than one month. In late April, two trains collided at a station east of Johannesburg, killing one and injuring several others.
