Mr. Morsi, 62, has been held in a secret military facility since he was ousted in July, but he was transferred to a maximum security prison near Alexandria on Monday after his first trial session was delayed to January 8.
On November 4, Mohammed Morsi, the first president of Egypt, who was elected democratically, stood trial. In July this year, he was overthrown by armed forces and faced charges of treason, murder of protesters and cooperation with HAMAS.
